  • Appointment of Headteacher

Fri 12 Feb 2021 Mrs Homer

Following a rigorous recruitment process, supported by an independent advisor and advisor from the Diocese of Salisbury, I am delighted to inform you that the Governing Body has appointed Mr Andrew Bright to be Headteacher of St Mark’s Church of England Primary School from 1 September 2021.

Mr Bright has been the Deputy Headteacher at St Mark’s for the past ten years and Acting Headteacher on a Monday for the past 12 months.

The Leadership Team and Governors will continue to work closely together to ensure a smooth and efficient transition when Mrs Burn retires at the end of the academic year.

I am confident that the school will go from strength to strength under Mr Bright’s leadership and I know you will want to join me in wishing him all the best in his new role.

    Yours sincerely

    Mrs M. Homer

    Chair of Governors

  • Closure/move to remote learning

Mon 04 Jan 2021 Mr Bright

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement this evening, the school will be closed tomorrow to all children except those children previously identified as vulnerable or children of Key Workers, or – for tomorrow only – children of families with no alternative provision within their household or childcare bubble. These arrangements will be reviewed tomorrow and different eligibility criteria will apply from Wednesday. We will be in touch with further details early tomorrow.

Remote learning will be available on Teams for tomorrow and this will be posted as soon as possible in the morning. We have been developing our remote learning provision to include some video elements and we will look to add this to lessons during the week.

Breakfast and After School Club will be open tomorrow for children who have already been booked in only.

If your child is eligible to attend school tomorrow the school start and finish time, and entrance point will remain unchanged.

We appreciate the difficulties this announcement will cause families and ask you to continue to work with us to support our children in the most effective ways possible.

  • Back to School

Sat 02 Jan 2021 Mr Triplow

St Mark's Church of England Primary school will reopen to all children on Monday 4 January.  We look forward to seeing you all then.

Please check the PE Timetable to check when your child should come to school wearing their PE kit.  These may have changed to accommodate swimming lessons.  If your child is swimming this half term you would have been sent a message by Groupcall before Christmas.

Please ensure you arrive at school on time, and adults are requested to wear face coverings outside the school at the beginning and the end of the day.

If there are any changes to these arrangements you will be contacted via Groupcall.

  • WisePay outage

Wed 07 Oct 2020 Mr Triplow
Currently there is an issue with the WisePay website preventing login.   We are hoping that it will be resolved soon, and will extend the deadline for booking hot school meals.  We will contact parents and carers when this is resolved.
  • Welcome Back!

Mon 07 Sep 2020 Mr Bright

It was wonderful to see virtually all children back in school today. The school was calm and ordered but there was an excited buzz of learning happening. Our bubbles of classes as social times worked well, we just need to make the morning staggered starts more crisp:

Please make sure that if your child is in Year 2,4 or 6 that they are here promptly at 8:30am and that those in Years 1, 3 or 5 are not waiting at the gates at that time. Years 1, 3 and 5 need to be here for 8:40am please. All children must to be in school by 8:45am.

These were a few teething issues and on the whole we would like to thank everyone for making today a successful start back to school.

  • Back to school in my Bubble

Mon 06 Jul 2020 Mr Bright

Please find a link here to a fantastic social story to support children returning to school - particularly for those children who have not been into school since the school closure.

  • Transition arrangments

Wed 01 Jul 2020 Mr Bright

Although incredibly complex logistically, we felt it important to offer an opportunity for all children to spend some time in school to say goodbye to their current class teacher as well as meet their new teacher.  Classes will come into school in bubbles of 15, for a 2 hour session on the days shown below, either 9am-11am or 12:30pm-2:30pm:

    • Year 1 - Thursday 9th July
    • Year 2 - Monday 13 July
    • Year 3 - Tuesday 14 July
    • Year 4 - Wednesday 15 July
    • Year 5 - Thursday 16 July

Colour groups have been sent to you via Groupcall.

Reception will have their transition day in school on Friday 3 July when they are in school.

  • Free School Meals

Thu 04 Jun 2020 Mr Triplow

The government have brought in a Free School Meal voucher scheme to provide food for children eligible for Free School Meals who are not in a year group eligible to return to school, and these are being sent out fortnightly.  The scheme is not open to children who are eligible for the Universal Free School Meal only (which is open to all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 only), although children in this year may still by eligible to apply for Free School Meals.

If you think you may be eligible for Free School Meals and have not applied with the local authority, please see further details by following the below link:

    https://www.bournemouth.gov.uk/childreneducation/Schools/FreeSchoolMeals.aspx

Once your eligibility for Free School Meals has been confirmed your child will remain eligible for all of their remaining years as Primary School.
